Chaptman Moss, 82, Green Co., KY (1940-2022)

Chaptman Moss of Green County passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Baptist Health Hardin Hospital in Elizabethtown. He was 82 years old.

The funeral services for Chaptman Moss will be conducted at 2pmCT on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main St., Greensburg, KY, with Bro. Kelvin Edwards and Bro. Greg Whitlow officiating. Burial will follow in the Aetna Grove Cemetery.

Visitation is requested from 10amCT on Sunday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home until time of the funeral service.


Chaptman Moss, son of the late Horace Moss and Vera May Nelson Moss, was born on Thursday, January 25, 1940.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Aetna Grove Baptist Church. He worked at Kentucky Traders in Louisville for 10 years. He enjoyed being out on the farm and going fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Jean Whitlow Moss of Green County having united in marriage on June 25, 1962.

Other survivors include a son and daughter-in-law: Phillip and Candace Moss of Greensburg; two grandchildren: Nick and Taylor Moss, Cody Moss of Greensburg; three great-grandchildren: Kinsley Moss, Zoey Moss, Arielle Moss all of Greensburg; five sisters and a brother-in-law: Lucille Vaughn of Louisville, Minnie Wilson of Louisville, Lula "Tootie" May Alexander of Gabe, Betty Jo Thornsberry of Mt. Washington, Joyce Ann and Howard Kessinger of Shepherdsville; four brothers and two sisters-in-law: Stanley and Shirley Moss of the Hudgins Community, Mitchell and Patricia Moss of Summersville, Michael Moss of the Hudgins Community, Ricky Moss of Gabe; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Beside his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother: Billy Moss; and a sister: Margie Brown.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take form of donations to the Aetna Grove Cemetery or the Gideon Bible Fund which can be made at the funeral home.
