Irene M. Stanbery, 88, Greensburg, KY (1934-2022)

Irene M. Stanbery was born July 13, 1934, in Smith County, Virginia to the late Jessie James Atwell and Verner Mae Lefler Atwell. She departed this life Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Green Hill Rehab and Nursing, having attained the age of eighty-eight years, three months and twenty-three days.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, collecting cookbooks and shopping. She was united in marriage to James H. Stanberry, who preceded her in death February 26, 1990. She is also preceded in death by one son-in-law: A.D. Hawthorne, two infant grandchildren: William Santee Stanbery and Kaitlyn Lashale Stanbery, one sister: Mary Elizabeth Austin and one brother-in-law: David Heith.

She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law: James H. Stanbery and his wife Collette of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Dwayne Eugene Stanbery and his wife Bonnie of Greensburg and one daughter and son-in-law: Patsy Brammer and her husband Marty of Greensburg. She is also survived by one brother and sister-in-law: Cleveland and Polly Atwell of Saltville, Virginia, one sister: Myrtle Fay Heith of Virginia, four grandchildren: Dennis Hawthorne and his wife Laura of Georgia, Susan Gephart and her husband Gerard of Louisville, Timothy Hawthorne and his wife Renee of Greensburg, Eddie Brammer and his wife Amanda of Bardstown, eight great grandchildren: Kaleigh Hooper and her husband Brady, Jake Hawthorne and his wife Huda, Zachary and Ryan Gephart, Devon and Khloe Chaulklin, Cheyenne and Drake Brammer, plus a host of other relatives and friends.

A Graveside service for Irene M. Stanbery will be conducted at 1:30pmCT on Monday, November 7, 2022, at the Bethlehem Cemetery with Bro. Cliffton Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Green County.

Visitation will be conducted from NoonCT until 1pmCT on Monday, November 7, 2022, at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home in Greensburg.

Pallbearers: Tim Hawthorne, Dennis Hawthorne, Gerard Gephart, Zach Gephart, Ryan Gephart, Devon Chaulkin

Honorary Pallbearers: Bethlehem Baptist Church SR Sunday School Class, Trina Ford, Faye Colvin, Lana Foley, Margaret Carney

The family has requested that expressions of sympathy be donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital or to the Bethlehem Cemetery Fund. These can be made at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home or at the cemetery.
