Nancy Elizabeth Grider, 80, Columbia, KY (1942-2022)

Nancy Elizabeth (Yarberry) Grider of Columbia passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. She was 80 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 2pmCT on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at Bethlehem Separate Baptist Church, with Bro. Troy Grider officiating. Burial will follow in the Freedom Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Saturday from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, and will continue on Sunday morning until 12:30pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, and then from 1pmCT until time for the service at Bethlehem Separate Baptist Church.


She was born on July 26, 1942, in Adair County to the late Walter and Ada Loy Yarberry.

Mrs. Grider was a member of the Freedom Separate Baptist Church and recently attended Bethlehem Separate Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Osh Kosh in Columbia and dairy farmed with her husband for many years. Nancy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, but especially enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband James Anderson Grider of Columbia, KY; two daughters Reba Cowan (Billy) and Chantella Burton (B. J.) both of Columbia, KY; five grandchildren Brandon Cowan, Renee Corbin (Freddie), Tyler Cowan (Katie), Kaitie Burton (Zack Proffitt) and Hannah Burton; nine great grandchildren Byron Corbin, Riley Jo Cowan, Abby Cowan, Jaicee Reynolds, Dierks Cowan, Marley Corbin, Traison Corbin, Layton Proffitt and Bodie Cowan; a brother-in-law Ed Grider of Columbia, KY; a special companion Django and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson James Mark Cowan and three siblings Harold Yarberry, Betty Grider and Janice Allinson.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Corbin, Nick Pierce, Chris Rooks, Dougie Campbell, Jacob Campbell, Gene Yarberry, Rhett Allinson, and Garrett Williams.
