Mary Irene Nell, 107, Columbia KY (1915-2022) Mary Irene Miller Walker Nell of Columbia, KY, resident of Frankfort, KY, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at her daughter's residence in Frankfort, KY. She was 107 years old. Graveside services will be held at 1:30pmCT on Monday, November 7, 2022, at Columbia Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, November 7, 2022, from 11amCT to 1pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY. Born in Crocus, KY on July 24, 1915, she was preceded in death by her parents Laura Willis and Adam Albert Miller, siblings Albert Adam Miller II, Ella Wilkerson Hill, Edwin Miller, Mildred Darnell, Nancy Smith, Helen Barth, Reed Miller, Sam Miller, and Charles Miller; husbands, John Ritchie Walker and Willie Lile "Bill" Nell and son David Lee Walker. Survivors include her daughter Sue Nell Kirkman (Joe); grandchildren John Walker of Hardinsburg, IN, Janet Walker of Frankfort, KY, Pam Walker of Campbellsville, KY, Teresa Boots of Sebring, FL, Kelly Lundgren Dycus (Jeff) of Frankfort, KY and Susan Lundgren Payton (Keith) of Frankfort, KY; seven great grandchildren and six great, greatgrandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A member of the Columbia Baptist Church for over 50 years, Irene moved to Frankfort to live with her daughter in 2007 and regularly attended Crestwood Baptist Church in Frankfort until a year ago. Irene and her husband Bill owned and ran Nell's Variety Store on the square in Columbia, KY for 28 years. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
