Basketball: LWC Women open season with 2nd straight win The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team picked up their second straight win of the season in a 93-56 win over Brescia on Monday at Biggers Sports Center. All 15 Blue Raiders who dressed recorded a point as the team shot 47.9 percent from the floor. Sophomore Dayja Evans led all scorers with 13 points off the bench as Lucy Patterson finished with 12 points and nine rebounds to just miss out on a double-double. Irye Gomez added 11 points while Carla Moreno tied for a game-high with nine boards while adding six points. Lindsey Wilson's defense stifled the Bearcats, forcing Brescia into 22 turnovers which led to 26 points for LWC. The Blue Raiders dominated the class, outrebounding their counterparts 40-20, including 19-3 on the offensive end that led to 30 second chance points for Lindsey Wilson. Brescia came out firing jumping out to a 9-2 lead over the opening three minutes but LWC found their rhythm, taking the lead at 12-11 on an Alera Barbee basket and one. Lindsey Wilson led the rest of the contest, building their advantage to 29-16 by the end of the opening quarter. LWC shot 61.1 percent from the floor during the opening span on 11-of-18 shooting. Lindsey Wilson continued to assert their will over the Bearcats in the second frame pouring in 19 more points to take a 48-26 lead into halftime. Defensively, LWC limited Brescia to just ten points and a 38.5 shooting percentage in the quarter. Lindsey Wilson while recording three steals and pressured the Bearcats into six turnovers. The Blue Raiders controled the game in the second half, outscoring Brescia 24-11 in the third and 21-29 in the fourth quarter. Lindsey Wilson pushed their advantage to 41 points, their largest of the game in the fourth quarter at 78-37. Lindsey Wilson is back on the court on Tuesday, November 2, 2022, when they take on NCAA DI Western Kentucky in an exhibition matchup at 6pmCT in Bowling Green, Kentucky at E.A. Diddle Arena.
