XC: LWC Women 1st, Men 4th at Brescia Invitational Owensboro, KY - The Lindsey Wilson women's cross country team finished in first place at the Brescia Invitational on Friday afternoon, October 7, 2022, and the Lindsey Wilson men's cross country team finish in fourth place at the event. The Lady Blue Raiders bested 10 other programs at the event, and the men competed against 11 other programs in the 8k race. The Blue Raiders Cross Country teams return to action on October 22, when they compete at the Great Lakes Challenge in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In the women's event, Meredith Johnson raced her way to a runner-up finish, crossing the finish line in 18 minutes and 40.9 seconds. She produced the highest finish of all Mid-South Conference competitors. Alyssa Sharpe finished in 10th place with a 19:38.0 time as Olivia Rudder and Kaylee Masden finished in 13th and 14th place. Rudder crossed the finish line at 19:41.2 as Masden managed a time of 19:46.2. Lotte Gertler rounded out the scorers for LWC, finishing in 18th place with a time of 19:52.6. Macey Wilson (20:26.3), Madisyn Mitoraj (21:17.2), Laura Cuin (21:52.6), Jenna Burden (22:38.3), Cady Schoeck (22:45.8) and Eliza Hagens (23:13.8) also competed at the event. The Blue Raiders return to action on Oct. 22 when they compete at the Great Lakes Challenge in Grand Rapids, Michigan. On the men's side, Justin Stearns paced the Blue Raiders as he crossed the finish line in eighth place with a time of 26 minutes and 39.4 seconds. Michael Schonter was the next Blue Raider to finish, doing so in 13th place with a time of 26:45.9. Victor Clark and Nolan Foushee finished back-to-back in 17th and 18th respectively. Jordan Tucker and Nicholas Cummins were the next to cross the finish line, also doing so in succession finishing in 23rd and 24th place. Tucker managed a time of 27:12.4 while Cummins crossed the line at 27:14.3. Logan Bullock and Marcus Abel also competed in the event finishing the race in 28:09.2 and 28:37.3.
