Stella Morrison, 89, Taylor Co., KY (1933-2022)

Stella Thomas Morrison of the Mac Community of Taylor County, Kentucky departed this life on September 20, 2022 at the age of 89, only a short distance from the place where she was born.

A graveside service will be held at 2pmET on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Brookside Cemetery, officiated by Bro. Freddy Thompson. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery.

Visitation is requested from NoonET until 2pmET on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Parrott and Ramsey Funeral Home.

Stella was born on August 21, 1933, daughter of the late Thomas Hendricks Johnson and Edmonia Cessna Howard Purcell Johnson.

Stella was a homemaker. She was a meticulous housekeeper and an excellent cook. Before her health failed, she raised a large garden and enjoyed tending her chickens. She was a textbook of information about the families in her native community. Most importantly, Stella had professed faith in Jesus Christ when a young woman and lived a consistent Christian life. She was a member of the Campbellsville Baptist Church. She read and studied her Bible each day until failing vision intervened. She adored music, particularly the old hymns, and was a talented pianist, having played the piano for the Sunday School Services at the Medco Nursing Home for many years. Stella was a jolly soul who loved games and playing practical jokes.

She was united in marriage to Elton Powers "Chief" Morrison on March 6, 1965. He preceded her in death on August 18, 2007. Stella was also preceded in death by an infant son, Stevenson Purcell Reynolds, on May 24, 1954.

Survivors include a nephew, Gary Johnson and his wife, Judy; two great-nephews: Josh Johnson and his wife, Leeann, and Jeremy Johnson; great-great nieces and nephews: Ashton Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Shelby Martin, Tanner Martin and Bryce Cook. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Josie Morrison, of Campbellsville.

In addition to her husband and child, Stella was preceded in death by a brother, Hiestand Johnson, a nephew, Thomas Wayne Johnson and a host of friends and other relatives.

Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences at parrottramsey.com.
