Reception to close out traveling exhibit at CU By Lexy Horton Campbellsville, KY - Campbellsville University's Department of Art and Design has been hosting "Our Kentucky Home: Hispanic/Latin American Visual Art from the Commonwealth," an exhibition from the Kentucky Arts Council, in partnership with alDia en America and Casa de la Cultura Kentucky. The exhibition runs through Thursday, September 8, 2022, in The Pence-Chowning Art Gallery, 205 University Drive, Campbellsville, KY. A reception is scheduled from 4pmET until 5:30pmET on Thursday. From 3pmET to 4pmET, an artist talk, in the form of a narrative play, will be in The Gheen's Recital Hall in the Gosser Fine Arts Building, 210 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky. The artist talk will feature Kentucky Arts Council's Mark Brown and three artists from the exhibition: Deyanira Esmerelda Martin, Clay Mata and Azucena Trejo Williams, associate professor of art and design at Campbellsville University. The Kentucky Arts Council, in partnership with alDia en America and Casa de la Cultura Kentucky, invited Hispanic, Latinx and Latin American Kentuckians to share their visual art. A panel of Hispanic/Latinx Kentuckians and other cultural specialists selected works to include in this exhibit, which they named "Nuestro hogar Kentucky" (Spanish for "Our Kentucky Home"). This traveling exhibit will appear in all regions of Kentucky through January 2023. Goals of the exhibit are to share Hispanic/Latin American/Latinx* experiences in the commonwealth today, demonstrate diversity through diverse media, styles and themes and recognize the dynamic expressions these Kentuckians contribute to our cultural landscape.
