12 Months of T.J. continues with food drive and donations
From Stacey Biggs
Glasgow, KY - As part of the 12 Months of TJ Initiative, T.J. Regional Health is sponsoring the Community Relief Fund's "To the Brim" Food Drive by donating $4,000 and purchasing an additional $1,000 in non-perishable food items from Houchen's IGA at South Gate. This sponsorship and donation is intended to further uplift the health and well-being of the communities served by both organizations.
According to Neil Thornbury, CEO of T.J. Regional Health, this is just one way that the organization is saying "thank you" to our communities through the 12 Months of T.J. initiative. "Over the past two and a half years, the support for T.J. Regional Health from the communities we serve has been nothing short of amazing. While we are always very involved in the community, we wanted to find ways to go above and beyond by doing a variety of activities to support local families, charities, partner organizations, students, schools, healthcare workers and more."
Dr. Bharat Mody, Founder of the "To the Brim" Food Drive, expressed his appreciation for the donation. "I am so grateful to T.J. Regional Health for stepping forward to become the lead sponsor of this year's food drive in our community. To the Brim Food Drive was started 14 years ago because we saw a need in our community, mainly in our children and seniors. The entire community joins hands during this drive to help it be such a success. During the last two years we have struggled in the amount of food we have collected due to COVID, and our supply has many times ran out. This year we are appealing to all of the businesses, schools, and families to join together to help make a difference in the lives of those who are left behind and feeling the effects of food insecurity. And, we encourage everyone to keep in mind, their support does not have to be just during these four days. At any point throughout the year, people can bring food or monetary donations and drop off at my office, Community Medical Care, Habitat Restore, or at the main food pantry location. Thank you to everyone who will help meet this need."
Randy Burns, Executive Director of the T.J. Community Mission Foundation echoed Dr. Mody's remarks: "The mission of T.J. Regional Health and of the Foundation in its simplest form is to build healthier communities here in southcentral Kentucky. Addressing food insecurity is a vital component in living out that mission. We are grateful to be able to play a part in ensuring no one in this community should have to go to bed hungry and we encourage others in Glasgow and Barren County to join us making this the most successful To the Brim Food Drive yet."
