Golf: LWC Women lead Blue Raider Invite after opening rounds From Christopher Coombs The Lindsey Wilson women's golf team sits in first place at the Blue Raider Invite following Monday's opening two rounds of play. The Blue Raiders carded a 575 (287-288) to sit a comfortable 15 strokes ahead of second place Northwestern Ohio. Lindsey Wilson looks to pick up their first tournament win of the season when they compete in the final round of the Blue Raider Invite on Tuesday at 8amCT. The event is being played at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson, LWC's home course, a par-71, 5,810-yard design. Lindsey Wilson rolled in their opening tournament of the season with six Blue Raiders sitting inside the top-10. As a team, LWC has managed 26 birdies and 113 pars. Hannah Sumner paces all scores to lead the field after shooting under-par in both of her rounds. She posted 137 (70-67) to average 68.5 strokes per round. The average is 14 strokes better than her career average of 82.5 strokes. Sumner leads scoring on par-3's at 4-under par while also leading the field in par-4 scoring at 1-under. She has accumulated a tournament-best nine birdies to go along with 24 pars. Zofia Wojcik is tied for third following a 145 (70-75) as Lauren Holeman and Katie Biddlecombe are in fifth and sixth place after scoring a 146 (72-74) and a 147 (75-72), respectively. Claire McLaughlin sits in ninth place after a 155 (75-80). She is playing in the event as an individual. Megan Mann is the final Blue Raider inside the top-10 in 10th place as she scored a 158 (76-82). Paige Gray and Kendall Hacker also competed at the event as individuals. Gray posted a 162 (84-78) while Hacker managed a 191 (92-99). Northwestern Ohio is in second place at 590 as Georgetown (Ky.) is third with a 644. This story was posted on 2022-08-30 09:35:33
