CU to celebrate inauguration of Dr. Joseph Hopkins Sept. 16 By Gerard Flanagan Campbellsville, KY - Campbellsville University will celebrate the inauguration of its 12th president, Dr. Joseph Hopkins, at 10amET on Friday, September 16, 2022, in Ransdell Chapel, 401 N. Hoskins Ave., KY. The inauguration ceremony will mark the culmination of celebrations across the Campbellsville University campus surrounding the inauguration. "The university is celebrating an historic event," Henry Lee, chair of the Campbellsville University Board of Trustees, said. "We are pleased to invite the community to celebrate with us. "The concerts and worship service are opportunities for us to come together in commemoration of the next chapter in Campbellsville University history." The inauguration ceremony is open to the public. However, due to limited seating, the public is encouraged to view the ceremony on the WLCU YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGOyyKyrGBpSx8-uXa4NRtw and the university's main Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/campbellsvilleuniversity. The inauguration will also be broadcast on Comcast channel 10 and digital channel 15.1. Festivities begin at 8pmET on Tuesday, September 6, with a Faculty Showcase from the university's School of Music in The Gheens Recital Hall, 210 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky. The program is free and open to the public. The showcase will give the campus, community and area schools the opportunity to hear the talents of the music faculty in a solo and chamber ensemble setting. Hopkins will join the ensemble as a special guest. The program will include a variety of works that appeal to a variety of concertgoers. Campbellsville University will welcome internationally renowned pianist Dr. Wael Farouk, a member of the faculty at the Manhattan School of Music, for a concert in The Gheens Recital Hall at 8pmET on Thursday, September 8, 2022. The concert is free and open to the public. Dr. Daniel Dickard, president of the Southern Baptist Convention Pastors' Conference, will give the address during Campbellsville University's chapel at 10amET on Wednesday, Sept. 14, in Ransdell Chapel. At 6:30pmET the same day, Dickard will be the featured speaker for the community worship service in Ransdell Chapel. Both the chapel and worship service are open to the public, and church groups are encouraged to attend. The chapel, which is open for the public to attend, will be televised live on WLCU (Comcast Cable channel 10 and digital channel 15) and streamed live at wlcutv.com and the Campbellsville University Facebook page. At 2pmET on Friday, September 16, the public is invited to attend a memorial tree planting ceremony on Stapp Lawn. In the ceremony, a sugar maple tree will be planted along the university's Maple Trail to ensure the trail continues for years to come, just as the founders of Campbellsville University intended.
