Hosparus Health needs volunteers

From Ellen Zornes

Hosparus Health of Green River (HGR) needs volunteers to support patients and their families in Adair, Green, Marion, Taylor and Washington counties. The not-for-profit hospice and palliative care organization will offer free training on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, from 10amET to 1pmET, and on Thursday, September 15, 2022, from 1pmET to 4pmET, at the HGR office, 295 Campbellsville Bypass, Campbellsville, KY (behind Coltons). Interested participants may choose the date that best fits their schedule.

Hosparus Health volunteers must be in good health, have available transportation and complete an application and training session. Volunteers must receive an annual flu shot as well as a COVID vaccine. The organization needs volunteers of all ages and interests.

Registration is required for both in-person and online training. To sign up, or for general information about how to become a Hosparus Health volunteer, visit or contact Carrie Truitt at 270.283.6377 or

Patient/family support volunteers provide companionship to hospice patients and respite for their caregivers. Working closely with the rest of the Hosparus Health care team, volunteers provide comfort and enhance quality of life during a very difficult time for patients and families.

HGR also needs volunteers to work at its Thrift Shoppe, located at 1488 Old Lebanon Road, Suite B. Thrift Shoppe volunteers help with receiving, sorting and pricing donations; placing and straightening items on the sales floor; and assisting customers. Training for these positions takes place online, and times are flexible.
