Saving the wild raspberries

Click headline to see some pictures of Lary's wild black raspberry plants

By Larry Clark

Several years ago I was sitting in my yard watching the traffic. A spray truck stopped, and two people I knew, but will not name, came up and we started a conversation about raspberries. Mainly because I had dug some tame red raspberry plants. I gave each of them a potted plant of raspberries.

A few days later I went down the road and to my dismay I saw where they had sprayed and killed all the wild black raspberry plants. I had picked in those patches for years.

A few days later I dug up some of the plants across a ditch line where the spray didn't reach.I brought them home and planted them in my backyard. I didn't write this to embarrass anyone, just wanted to say that sometimes something good comes from bad things that happen to us.
