Phillip Coffey - Take Up Mathematics

Take Up Mathematics - By Phillip Coffey
(Writing is fun, let the mind wander)

All the 'what ifs', 'buts', 'however(s)' suddenly with a whim tossed into the seas and oceans.
While off in the distance to the north and south the glaciers accelerate their rate of melting.
Climb high up into the mountains, maintaining the unnatural balance of deforestation and construction.
No more flat fields in the "Breadbasket of the world"-Midwest of U.S.A., all covered with water.

Roll up your denim sleeves, leave the thickets-purchase a harpoon-take up fishing for the white whale
Of indifference, call up Captain Ahab, ask him for directions on how to skin and cook up all this blubber.
No more thickening gravy formed by a tablespoon of flour, mixed with milk, maybe salt and bacon drippings.
Sift through all those conjunctions, prepositions-shelf them for a while then to the moon-take up mathematics.
