Gary (Speedy) Rains, 66, Columbia, KY (1956-2022)

Gary "Speedy" Rains, previously of Louisville, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022. He was 66 years old.

A funeral service will be held at Noon ET on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY.

Visitation will be held at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven on Friday, June 3, beginning at 2pmET for family, and from 3pmET until 8pmET for the public.


Gary was born and raised in Louisville, KY. He worked for Lear Seating Corporation for over 20 years. He later retired with his wife to Columbia, KY to be closer to his daughter, son in law, and grandchildren.

Gary is preceded in death by his mother Kathy Wilder, step father Curtis Wilder, father Ray Rains, and sister Janet Arnold.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Denise; his daughter Clarissa Kimbler (Benji); his siblings Jimmie Rains (Angelina), Glenn Rains (Sue), Shannon Wilder, Tammie Wilson (Brad); grandchildren Lane, Chloe, Maci, Harlee, Shantale; great grandchildren Jayce and Henlee; lifelong friends Donnie Woods and Doug Hutcherson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Pallbearers: Benji Kimbler, Donnie Woods, Doug Hutcherson, Curtis Wilson, Brett Ernst, and Robbie Newton.
