Jo Ann (Jody) Selby Ballard, 92, Russell County, KY

Jo Ann "Jody" Selby Ballard, of Russell Springs, passed from this life on Thursday evening, May 26, 2022, at her home. She was 92 years and 20 days of age.

Born in Russell Springs, on May 6, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Vernon Ray and Olza Antle Selby. She graduated from Bowling Green Business College, which later became Western Kentucky University. She retired as a secretary and clerk from Kentucky Utilities with 43 years of service. She was secretary for the Russell County Jaycees Fair for over 20 years and was later inducted into the Russell County Jaycees Hall of Fame. She was a member of Russell Springs Christian Church.



Survivors include her nephew, Michael (and Delila) Selby of Russell Springs; one great-nephew, Brandon (and Sherry) Selby of Russell Springs; one great-niece, Danielle (and Ashley) White of Russell Springs; two great-great-nephews, Grider Selby and Deacon White; two great-great-nieces, Ella Robertson and Emery-Kate Robertson; and one sister-in-law, Nancy (and Bob McQueary) of Harrodsburg. Jo Ann is also survived by her beloved dog, Andy; and a host of friends, too numerous to mention.

In addition to her parents, Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband, George Ballard, who passed away on January 31, 2008; and her brother and sister-in-law, Adrian and Kay Selby.

Funeral services are 10amCT Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Brother Carroll Egnew officiating. Burial will follow in Wolford Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be Gene Smith, Billy Selby, Greg Coe, Edward Jones, Charles Edwards, Danny Voils, Mitchell "Squirrel" Marcum, and Ronald Hopper.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Dickenson, Mitchell Richards, Robert Leach, Beulah Jones, Louella Gore, Sylvia Jimerson, and Sue Ann Zimmerman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: Wolford Cemetery Fund, c/o Michael Selby, P.O. Box 408, Russell Springs, Kentucky 42642.
