Chamber announces top three slogans in contest

Winner will come from these top three entries:
  • Columbia, KY-A Good Place to Call Home

  • Columbia City of Promise

  • Columbia A Caring Community of Committed Citizens

The Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that we have our top three slogans from the Slogan Contest that began on April 14, 2005, and continued through July 15, 2005.


We had a total of 137 slogans submitted and these were narrowed down by a panel of five judges to the top three slogans. The judges consisted of Pat Bell, Mayor of the City of Columbia; Duane Bonifer, Public Relations officer of Lindsey Wilson College; Joyce Durham, President of the Adair County Retired Teachers Association; Courtney Gentry, 2005 Valedictorian of the Adair County High School; and Richard Phelps, President of theColumbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce.

The top three slogans were:
  • Columbia, KY-A Good Place to Call Home

  • Columbia City of Promise

  • Columbia A Caring Community of Committed Citizens
The Chamber is very proud to recognize these as the top three chosen out of 137.

A total of $1,000 in prize money will be distributed among the top three winners. The winner will receive $500, second place $300,and the third place winner will receive $200.

We are very grateful and appreciative of those who took time to participate in making this contest such a big success. We can now look forward to using one of these positive slogans in all future promotional material about Columbia.


Contest rules:

Voting will begin Friday, August 19th and end Tuesday, September 2, at 4:00 p.m.

Vote for only (1) one of your favorites.

Ballots will be made available at the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce, Bank of Columbia, Community Trust Bank, First National Bank, United Citizens Bank, and the Adair Progress.

Only ballots with an Embossed Seal will be counted, except for ballots in the newspaper.

Mail or return you ballots to the Columbia-County Chamber of Commerce, 201 Burkesville Street, PO Box 116, Columbia, KY 42728.

Top three in Chamber Slogan Contest



2005-08-22 - Roadside Park, Columbia, KY - Photo Ed Waggener. Columbia Mayor Pat Bell, Chamber of Commerce President Richard Phelps, and Chamber Director Sue Stivers displayed the three slogans chosen as finalists in the $1,000 Slogan Contest. Balloting is open to the public, with a few restrictions, is now underway until Tuesday, September 2, 2005, at 4:00 p.m. will decide the winner.
