Sherlene Rooks, 72, Columbia, KY (1949-2022) Sherlene Rooks of Columbia passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Baptist Health of Louisville. She was 72 years old. Graveside services will be held at 11amCT on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Free Union Separate Baptist Church Cemetery, with Bro. Johnny Davis officiating. Sherlene was born in Russell County, on December 8, 1949, daughter of the late Mayfield and Elsie Richards Grider. She worked for many years as a sewing machine operator with Russell Sportswear and then with Fruit of the Loom of Jamestown. Sherlene was a member of Free Union Separate Baptist Church, and in recent years, had attended White's Chapel Separate Baptist Church. She loved to sew, going to yard sales and going shopping. She is survived by her husband, Edward Rooks; her brothers, Roy (and Patricia) Grider, of Russell Springs, and Leonard Grider, of Indiana; and her nieces and nephews, Christine Blakey, Kris Grider, Donna Matney, James Grider, Kelly Aaron and Todd Grider. Along with her parents, Sherlene is preceded in death by her brothers, James Grider and Arvil Grider; her sister, Kathleen Wilson; and her nephew, Eddie Grider. Pallbearers will be Barry Stephens, David Blakey, Larry Grider, David Kinnett, David Breeding, Danny Rooks and Jason Blakey. Arrangements are entrusted to Bernard Funeral Home.
