Columbia Duck Derby will be Saturday, April 30

From City Hall

Stephen Baker says, "We're bringing the duck race back!"

This year's race will be held at 11amCT on Saturday, April 30, 2022, Pre-Derby Weekend.

Stephen says, "We'll dump the ducks in Russell Creek, and have a finish line marked off."

All the proceeds will go towards making an official Paddle Trail kayak launching spot on Russell Creek by the 206 bridge. Yellow rubber ducks can be purchased for $5 each. Participants will be assigned a specific duck number in the race.

A number of local businesses have donated prizes for the winners of the race.

"We encourage you to participate in this event," said Mayor Pamela Hoots. "The paddle trail is important to our community." The city hopes to create an official Paddle Trail kayak launching spot on Russell Creek by the 206 bridge.

So far, the following local businesses are donating prizes: T.J. Health Columbia, Community Medical Services, Adair County Health Department, Community Trust, Bank Of Columbia, and Walmart. If you would like to donate a prize, contact City Hall at 270-384-2501.
