Basketball: LWC women host Lions on Thursday

The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team returns to campus Thursday afternoon to host Freed-Hardeman (TN). Tipoff is scheduled for 4pmCT in Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY.

Due to the ongoing challenges with COVID-19, Lindsey Wilson College has adjusted the attendance policy for games played at Biggers Sports Center. Only individuals on the pass list will be allowed to attend games. Each member of the team and coaching staff will be allowed up to four guests per contest. Faculty, staff, family, and students may be included on the pass list if invited by a student-athlete or coach. Face masks are required to be worn correctly during all times while inside the facility. Violators of the face mask policy may be asked to leave the building.


The Blue Raiders (10-7, 5-4 MSC) enter the match after defeating Pikeville (Ky.) 88-84 on Monday thanks to a 27-point game and near double double from Hailey Ison who scored her 1,000-career point in the game.

Senior forward Maleigha Oldham currently leads the team in points per game averaging 13.6 while also averaging 2.3 steals per game, the third-highest average in the conference.

Senior forward Bree Glover continues to lead the team in rebounds per game averaging 9.2 so far this season ranking second in the conference while also averaging 2.7 blocks per game, the ninth-highest average in the NAIA and best in the conference.

As a team, the Blue Raiders are averaging 72.6 points per game and are shooting 42.0 percent from the floor and 36.4 percent from beyond the arc, the second-best in the conference. Meanwhile, freshman and sophomore guard Sydnie Hall and Amelia Hodges continue to shoot over 40 percent from beyond the arc, ranking fifth and eighth in the conference respectfully.

As for the Lions (14-5, 6-5 MSC), they enter the match after defeating Oakwood (Ala.) 103-38 Monday night. Junior forward Hannah Hughes led the team with 15 points on the night.

The Lions are led by senior forward Alyssa LeMay who averages 14.9 points per game, ranking seventh in the conference while also leading the team in rebounding with 7.9 boards per game, ranking fifth in the conference.

As a team, the Lions are averaging 74.2 points per game and are shooting 44.0 percent from the floor, the third-best in the conference.

Tomorrow's meeting will be the second time these two programs have met this season. The Blue Raiders won the previous meeting on November 20, 2021, 66-52 on the road and have won the last three meetings against the Lions.
