KSP: Post 15 investigating fatal collision in Metcalfe Co.

Edmonton, KY - Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 4:11 PM on U.S. 68 in Metcalfe County.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Meridith Spear, age 32 of Magnolia, KY was operating a 2009 Nissan Altima south bound on U.S. 68 when she failed to correctly negotiate a curve and entered into the north bound lane. As she crossed the center line she struck a northbound 2008 Dodge box truck head-on. The truck was operated by Edward Harris, age 54 of Manchester, KY.


Harris attempted to swerve to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful. Spear was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Metcalfe County Coroner. Harris was not injured in the collison.

This incident remains under investigation by Trooper Dean Lunz.
