David Lee Sharpe, 76, Columbia, KY (1945-2022)

David Lee Sharpe of Columbia passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Summit Manor Nursing Home. He was 76 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 1pmCT on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Bro. Paul Patton and Bro. Dean Morris officiating. Cremation will follow the service.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, and will continue on Thursday morning until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.


He was born in Columbia, KY on January 25, 1945 to the late Vanus Lee and Josephine Gadberry Sharpe.

Mr. Sharpe was a member of the Egypt Christian Church. David was very proud of his family and his farm that he worked daily. When he wasn't farming he enjoyed antique cars and tractors and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years Janet Grider Sharpe of Columbia, KY; five children Becky Chapman (Joe), Kim Wilson, Susan Pollard (Troy) and Woody Sharpe (Traci) all of Columbia, KY and Chrissie Posey (Brad) of Greensburg, KY; nine grandchildren Ashleigh Popplewell of Las Vegas, NV, Chris Sharpe (Becky), Brittany Klingberg (Kurt), Jordan Hodges (Ty), Emma Pollard, Tate Sharpe and Anna Beth Sharpe all of Columbia, KY and Josephine and Lily Posey both of Greensburg, KY; five great grandchildren Brynlee and Colton Sharpe, Hillary and Benson Klingberg and Maizee Rae Hodges; a sister-in-law Mary Sharpe of Indiana; two nephews Chuck Sharp (Mary) of Columbia, KY and Danny Sharp (Darlene) of Phoenix, AZ; two nieces Janet Parrish and Carolyn Hale (Anthony) both of Columbia, KY; several other friends and relatives.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three siblings Samuel Preston Sharpe, James Irvin Sharpe and Mary Odean Sharpe Loy and a great-grandson Hayden Popplewell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Loy, Vince Pfefferman, Darrell Loy, Kasey Loy, Greg Willis, Jimmy Bennett and Trevor Foster.
