Basketball: LWC Women resume season against Bears By Kyle Jackson After a short pause due to COVID related issues the (RV) Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team looks to resume their season this afternoon, January 24, 2022, when they welcome in Pikeville (KY). Tipoff is scheduled for 2pmCT. The Blue Raiders (9-7, 4-4 MSC) enter the match after seeing their last five matches postponed. The team last played on January 8th in a 63-67 loss to Tennessee Southern. Senior forward Maleigha Oldham currently leads the team in points per game averaging 13.1 while also averaging a team-high 2.2 steals per game, the third-highest average in the conference. Senior forward Bree Glover continues to lead the team in rebounds per game averaging 9.2 so far this season ranking second in the conference while also averaging 2.7 blocks per game, the ninth highest average in the NAIA and best in the conference. As a team, the Blue Raiders are averaging 71.7 points per game and are shooting 41.2 percent from the floor while freshman and sophomore guard Sydnie Hall and Amelia Hodges are both shooting over 40 percent from beyond the arc, ranking sixth and eighth in the conference respectfully. As for the Bears (10-8, 4-7 MSC), they enter the match after defeating Life (Ga.) 76-50 on Saturday. Sophomore guard Morgan Stamper and senior guard Mary Englert each scored 11 points in the victory. Stamper leads the Bears in scoring this season averaging 15.4 points per game ranking her fifth in the conference in PPG while she also leads both her team and the conference in rebounding averaging 12.4 boards per game to rank fourth in the nation in RPG. As a team, the Bears are averaging 75.9 points per game, the fifth most in the conference and are shooting 42.1 percent from the floor. The team currently averages 41.3 rebounds per game, the second most in the MSC. Today's meeting will be the first time the two teams have met this season as the Blue Raiders have won the last five-straight against the Bears.
