Photos of good food bring family recipes to mind

Seeing all the Epicurean posts brought this to mind. This is my Grandma's recipe for pancakes. They were by request only and the waiting list was very long.

They are as big as a plate. Not quite a crepe, yet not thick enough to be a cake. You slather whatever your go-to is on 'em and roll 'em up. These are bar-none the best I've ever had, and that fruit salad is great too!

Johnny's Grandma's Fruit Salad recipe
  • 1 Can Manderine Oranges
  • 1 Can Pineappie Tidbits- Drain Fruit
  • Pkg. Of Small Marshmallows
  • Container Of Sour Cream
Mix Together And Chill

Johnny's Grandma's Pancakes recipe
  • 1 Cup Flour
  • 2 Cup Milk
  • 3/4 Tsp. Baking Powder
  • 4 Beaten Eggs
  • 1 Tbsp. Oil To Batter
Add some milk to flour & then the eggs - keep adding miik until batter is loose and runny.

Pour into hot skillet and turn when one side is done.

This sort of recipe is deceptively simple -- four or five ingredients, just a few lines of instruction. In the wrong hands they never turn out right, but in practiced hands they're magical.

Johnny says, "This is my Grandma's recipe for pancakes. They were by request only and the waiting list was very long."
