Basketball: LWC Women ready for Puerto Rico Trip By Kyle Jackson The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team will take some time away from Mid-South Conference play this week and will instead hit the Caribbean airwaves in a two-day trip to Puerto Rico. While on the island, the team will face off with two local universities in Interamericana and the University of Puerto Rico - Mayaguez on December 19-20. Tip-off is set for NoonCT. The Blue Raiders (6-6, 3-3 MSC) enter the tournament after a hard earned 80-66 victory over Georgetown (KY) last week to even their conference and overall record. Amerah Steele had a game, scoring 26 points to lead the Blue Raiders to their first victory since December 2nd. After her big game in Georgetown, Steele took over as the team leader in points per game averaging 13.3. Senior forward Bree Glover continues to lead the team in rebounds per game averaging 8.1 so far this season while also averaging three blocks per game, the eighth-highest average in the NAIA and best in the conference. As a team, the Blue Raiders are averaging 72.1 points per game and are shooting 41.7 percent from the floor. As for the two Puerto Rican sides, they recently took on fellow Mid-South Conference member Georgetown in the last two days with the Tigers winning both games, 87-50 over Interamericana and 64-48 over the University of Puerto Rico - Mayaguez. A full recap of both matches will be available on lwcathletics.com once full game statistics are available. This story was posted on 2021-12-18 18:08:31
