Josephine McKinney Shearer, 86, Adair Co., KY native (1935-2021) Josephine McKinney Shearer, 86, passed away Friday, December 10, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 4, 1935, in Adair County, KY the daughter of Elroy and Vergie Hawkins McKinney. She was a homemaker that cherished and loved her family above all. She was an avid supporter of the March of Dimes and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bennett Shearer, sisters, Virginia England and Gertie Hamilton, brother, Johnny McKinney, and half siblings, Mary Ada Janes, Martha Jane Sparks, Lillie May McKinney, William Alvin McKinney, Roy Owen McKinney, James Cohen McKinney, Louise McKinney, Virgil Russell McKinney and Deering McKinney. She is survived by her son, Joel Shearer (Sue) of Greenville, IN; daughters, Trina Kochert (Kenneth) and Myra Willis (Kevin) all of Georgetown, IN; brother, Fallis Dean McKinney (Sue) of Burkesville, KY; sisters, Marylene Lawrence of Many, LA, and Jessaphine Donan of Burkesville, KY; grandchildren, Deidre Farvour (Greg), Neil Kochert (Amy), Cristina Shearer, Ashley Pieratt (Cody), Heather Stevens (Joshua), Jared Willis (Stephanie) and Sydney Faith (C.J.); 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown, IN. Burial in Edwardsville Cemetery. The family suggests memorial gifts be made to either the March of Dimes at marchofdime.org or by mail to March of Dimes Processing Center, PO Box 18819, Atlanta, GA 31126, or to VFW 1693 at 1919 Grantline Road, New Albany, IN 47150 This story was posted on 2021-12-17 19:58:45
