Basketball: LWC Men drop exhibition against Southern By Christopher Webster Baton Rouge, LA - The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team's 39 first-half points weren't enough to outlast the Jaguars' strong second half, as they fell 86-68 to Southern (LA) on Thursday night. The Blue Raiders will return to the hardwood facing No. 17 Georgetown (KY) on Dec. 16. Tipoff is scheduled for 6pm in Georgetown, KY. In Thursday's game, Elijah Jordan shot seven for eight from the free-throw line scoring a team-high 15 points along with six rebounds. Mark Edmond added 12 points and six rebounds. The Blue Raiders (7-5, 0-4 MSC) came out of the gates knocking down six of their first seven shots to take a 12-9 lead with 15:20 remaining in the half. All six shots came within the paint as Jayden Lazard, Jordan, Payton Cundiff, and Edmond finished shots close to the rim to take the early lead. The hot shooting continued for the Blue Raiders as back-to-back three pointers from Johrdon Mumford and Jackson Harlan expanded Lindsey Wilson's lead. The Jaguars tied the game with 9:57 left in the first half before a 5-0 run sparked by Harlan's second three-pointer of the night gave the Blue Raiders a 25-20 lead. Both sides continued to trade scores before the Jaguars took the lead with 2:29 left in the half and went into halftime with a 47-39 advantage over Lindsey Wilson. The second half was all Southern as the Blue Raiders shot just 12.5 percent from beyond the arc in the second half. The Jaguars outscored Lindsey Wilson by 10 points as the Blue Raiders dropped their second exhibition 86-68. This story was posted on 2021-12-10 07:36:33
