Basketball: LWC Men prepare for No. 16 Thomas More By Christopher Webster The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team for their second consecutive game against a top-25 opponent, facing No. 16 Thomas More (KY) on Saturday evening, December 4, 2021, at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30pmCT. The Blue Raiders (7-4, 0-3 MSC) enter the game following a close 67-63 loss to No. 21 Shawnee State (OH). Elijah Jordan scored 18 points while collecting six rebounds and four assists. Calvin Fugett recorded 13 points along with seven rebounds and a career-high four steals. Jordan continues to lead the Blue Raiders in scoring, ranking ninth in the conference with 15.4 points per game through 11 games. Mark Edmond averages 6.9 rebounds per game and 1.6 steals per game, ranking seventh in the conference in both categories. As a team, Lindsey Wilson ranks eighth in the conference in points per game with 78.5 while shooting 47.8 percent overall on average. The Saints (7-1, 3-0 MSC) are amid a six-game winning streak, defeating Cumberland (Tenn.) 72-70 in their last outing. Junior center Ryan Batte scored a game-high 22 points while shooting eight for 16 overall. Along with his scoring, he also grabbed five rebounds and recorded three assists. As a team, the Saints finished the evening shooting 83.3% from the free-throw line. Batte is having a great season for the Saints as he leads the conference in scoring with 22.0 points per game, ranks fourth in assists per game with 4.2 per game, and fifth in rebounds with 7.3 per game. Freshmen guard Wyatt Vieth is currently second in the conference in three-point shooting percentage, shooting at 63.0 percent. Thomas More averages 81.4 points per game, fifth-best in the conference while shooting 50.2 percent from the field. This will be the ninth time these two programs have faced each other with Lindsey Wilson trailing the all-time series 3-5. The last meeting resulted in a 79-36 loss for the Blue Raiders on Jan. 23, 2021. Payton Cundiff and Giir Ring led Lindsey Wilson in scoring with nine points apiece.
