Alice Jean (Jeanne) Cowherd, 81, Greensburg, KY (1940-2021)

Alice Jean "Jeanne" Cowherd of Greensburg passeda away on November 2, 2021. She was 81 years old.

The funeral services for Alice Jean "Jeanne" Cowherd will be conducted at 11amCT on Monday, November 8, 2021 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main St., Greensburg, KY, with Bro. Nathan Crawford, Bro. Steve Spurgin, Bro. Jim Gifford, Bro. John Michael LaRue officiating. Burial will follow in the Greensburg Cemetery.

Visitation is requested after 9amCT on Monday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home until time of the funeral service.


Alice Jean "Jeanne" Cowherd of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Broadus Akin and Mildred Hodges Akin, was born on Friday, January 12, 1940 in Green County and on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 was welcomed into the warm embrace of her Lord and Savior. She was 81 years, 9 months, and 21 days of age.

Jeanne married her high school sweetheart, David C. Cowherd on January 29, 1960 and celebrated 51 years of marriage before he passed away on March 30, 2011. She professed her faith in Christ to everyone she met and loved teaching preschoolers in Sunday School for more than 25 years. She supported her husband, David by opening their home to weekly Bible study for more than 20 years. She truly had a heart for mission work and loved to study about missionaries and their impact for Christ.

Survivors include three daughters and a son-in-law: Karen Cowherd, Linda and Nathan Crawford all of Greensburg, and Jill Cowherd of Boise, Idaho; brother Jerry Akin and family from San Antonio, Texas; brother David Alan Akin and family from Spring, Texas; uncle Joe Tommy Hodges and family from Largo, Florida; sister-in-law: Ann Cowherd and family from Franklin, Kentucky; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Pure Water, Pure Love-A ministry of the W.M.U., or the Gideon Bible Fund which can be made at the funeral home.
