Football: LWC remains at No. 1 for seventh straight week

The Lindsey Wilson football team (7-0, 4-0 MSC Bluegrass Division) remained at the top of the rankings for the seventh straight week in the latest NAIA Football FirstDown PlayBook Top-25 poll, officials at the national office announced on Monday.

The Blue Raiders received 444 voting points in the poll and 18 first-place votes.


Northwestern (IA) remains just behind the Blue Raiders in second with 426 voting points. Morningside (IA) tallied 411 points for third place in the rankings with the final first-place vote. Grandview (Iowa) stayed in fourth with 393 points while Baker (KS) jumped into fifth with 374 voting points.

Lindsey Wilson is one of seven other Mid-South Conference schools to be ranked with Reinhardt (GA) in eighth with 320 voting points. Keiser (FL) moved a spot to 12th with 250 voting points while Faulkner (AL) fell to 19th with 131 voting points. Georgetown (KY) checked in at 21st with 121 voting points while Bethel (TN) jumped two spots into 22nd with 89 voting points. St. Thomas (FL) wraps things up in 23rd with 80 voting points.

The Blue Raiders return to action with a trip to No. 24-ranked Bethel on October 30th. Kickoff is set for 1:30pmCT.
