Cycling: LWC collects 6 Top-10 finishes at USAMBC Nationals

Durango, CO - The Lindsey Wilson cycling team produced six top-10 finishes at the 2021 USA Cycling Mountain Bike Collegiate National Championship in Durango, Colorado.

The Blue Raiders had a great showing finishing fourth in the team omnium with 508 total points. Tessa Greep placed sixth overall in the individual Omnium totaling 108 points with 26 in the cross-country event, 28 in the short track event, 26 in the dual slolam event and 28 in the downhill event.


Greep placed 18th in the women's cross country event with a time of a one minute and 12 seconds earning 543 points in the event. In the same event, Sara Yusto Sanchez placed 24th with a time of 1:18:20. Samantha Maldonado wasn't far behind placing 26th with a time of 1:19:59.

In the men's cross-country event, Zach Fernau put together a 16th place finish with a time of 1:36:00 earning 514 points. Amai Rawls was behind in 24th with a time of 1:40:53. Cade Estes placed 42nd with a time of 2:01:01.

In the women's short track cross-country event, Greep placed 17th while Sanchez finished 30th with Maldonado just two places behind in 32nd. On the men's side of the same competition, Fernau placed ninth earning 545 points while Malaki Caldwell finished 22nd. Rawls crossed the line 31st with Matthias Herrmann finishing 46th. Cade Estes was the last of the Blue Raiders to finish the event, rolling across the line in 54th.

In the women's downhill event, Sanchez put together a strong ninth place finish with a time of 06.40.th earning 454 points while Greep finished 17th clocking a 06:54.th. Caitlyn Farmer came across the line in 20th with a 06:58.th while Emily Harris was 23rd with a time of 07:16.th. Korie Gilbert finished 29th with a 07:23.th while Sumi Yuki rounded things out for Lindsey Wilson finishing 31st with a time of 07:43th.

On the men's side, Gabe Holcomb placed the highest for the Blue Raiders in 38th with a time of 06:26.th while Mateo Marasas finished 40th with a time of 06:27.th. Amani Vigil was two spots behind in 42nd with a 06:29.th with Chris White in 44th with a 06:32.th. Landon Hoover and Brendan Young took 50th and 51st with a 06:54.th and 07:01.th respectfully.

The Lindsey Wilson cycling team will now break for the winter before returning to competition in the spring.
