Margaret Gaskins, 90, Russell Springs, KY (1931-2021)

Margaret Acree Gaskins of Russell Springs passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021, at Fair Oaks Health and Rehabilitation, in Jamestown, KY. She was 90 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 1pmCT on Monday, September 6, 2021, at Bernard Funeral Home, 367 N. Main St., Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Bill Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Springs City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11amCT on Monday until time for the services.


Born on July 25, 1931, in Russell Springs, KY, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Algie Hughes Wilson. Margaret enjoyed studying nutrition, spending time outdoors, and was a member of Gideon's Auxiliary International. She volunteered for many years at the Russell County Hospital Auxiliary Services. She was very proud to be a life-long member of Fairview Baptist Church, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Bible School. Margaret and her late husband, Ed, were humanitarians who volunteered, contributed, and donated to many causes within the community. Margaret truly had a servant's heart for those in need around her, but most of all, she dearly loved her family.

Survivors include a son, Robert Acree, of Knoxville, TN; two daughters, Kathy (and Tony) Tupman, of Jamestown, KY and Sharon Acree, of Russell Springs, KY; two step-sons, Steve (and Mary) Gaskins, of Louisville, KY, and Michael (and Liz) Gaskins, of Justin, TX; two step-daughters, Kathie Andrew, of Russell Springs, KY, and Jeneal (and Tim) Loy, of Nancy, KY; nine step-grandchildren; and four step-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her first husband, Clifford Acree, who passed away November 17, 1959, her second husband Edvert "Ed" Gaskins, who passed away January 6, 2018; a son, Montie Acree; a granddaughter, Joni Tupman Campbell; six brothers, Bryon Wilson, Kenny Wilson, Leon Wilson, Phillip Wilson, Brigham Wilson, and Gloyne Wilson; and two sisters, Barbara Montgomery and Gay Hadley.

Pallbearers for Margaret will be Tony Tupman, Larry Bernard, Tim Loy, Jacob Loy, Matthew Loy, and Marshall Sample.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Gideon's International.
