Recipients chosen for the 2021 Hoots Memorial Scholarship

Two recipients were chosen for this year's Hoots Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is for Adair County High School students who are going into a vocational or technical program.

  • Jonathan Melton, who is majoring in Industrial Maintenance, plans on attending Somerset Commmunity College.

  • Emily Price, who will be majoring in medical coding and electronic records, will also be attending Somerset Community College.
The scholarship is in memory of Gene and Joyce Hoots of Columbia. The recipients are to be a current student or alumni of Adair County High School, pursuing secondary education in a vocational field.

Melton and Price receive Hoots Scholarships

Sisters Dr. Cathy Hoots Abell and Mayor Pam Hoots presented Emily Price, in the photo at left, and Jonathan Melton, in the photo at right, with 2021 Hoots Memorial Scholarships recently.

The scholarship is in memory of their parents Gene and Joyce Hoots of Columbia. The recipients are to be a current student or alumni of Adair County High School, pursuing secondary education in a vocational field.
