Mayor's Report to Columbia City Council for July By Pamela Hoots, Mayor, City of Columbia, KY The July 2021 activity report was provided to members of the City Council for the Monday, August 2, 2021 council meeting: 1. Around forty loads of brush, limbs, picked up by street department. 2. We have had several meetings this month: ADD, USDA. (Grant work continuing). 3. The street department has done several blacktop patching. 4. Work at city park on Fairgrounds Street including: lighting, new basketball court, etc. underway. 5. New doors installed at Trabue Russell House (and, painted). 6. The pavilion at the city park on Fairgrounds Street was cleaned. Thank you Sam and Bryson. 7. Limbs removed from Trabue Russell House. 8. 2nd annual Truck It Up scheduled. August 6. We will have blood pressure screenings, back to school supplies, paint the town, and more. 9. Sidewalk repair done on Jamestown Street. 10. Proclaimed July 19 through July 26 in honor of the 8U Little League Team. 11. We extend our best wishes to Mike Glasgow, who has retired as city fire chief. 12. The city police and mayor participated in the fundraiser for the Children's Miracle Network. 13. Ag Revolution (formerly Whayne Supply) held their open house and ribbon-cutting during the month. 14. KFC will be having a grand opening tentatively the first week of August. 15. The water towers on Page Street (Garrett Street) and on Bomar Heights (intersection of Pine Tree Street) were taken down during the month. 16. Congratulations to Sam and KateLynn on the birth of Samuel. 17. Pine straw taken to Trabue Russell House for distribution. 18. Continuing to work on new gas services in the community. 19.
