LCDHD COVID-19 Public Information 8/2/2021 By Amy Tomlinson Lake Cumberland District Health Department New Cases: We report that our total case count has increased by 106 since our last report. Our new cases (including suspect cases) are as follows: Adair: 18; Casey: 8; Clinton: 3; Cumberland: 1; Green: 6; McCreary: 4; Pulaski: 46; Russell: 8; Taylor: 10; and, Wayne: 2. Our current new case growth rate is: 1.0032. This means our total case count is projected to double every 216.96 days. The most new cases we ever added in a single day was on 12/30/2020 when we added 301 cases. Again, we encourage our citizens to take the COVID-19 vaccine, which is safe and very effective. Of our 9,783 new cases since the vaccine started becoming available, almost 97.35% were unvaccinated. Below are our area's COVID-19 vaccination uptake rates compared to the state average.
Deaths: We are pleased to report no new deaths since our last report. We have experienced a total of 468 deaths resulting in a 1.96% mortality rate (about 1 in 51) among known cases. This compares with a 1.51% mortality rate at the state level and a 1.75% mortality rate at the national level. Hospitalizations: We presently have 31 cases in the hospital. This is 2 more than what we reported in our last report. We have had a total of 1,331 hospitalizations resulting in a 5.58% hospitalization rate (about 1 in 18) among known cases. The state hospitalization rate is 5.01%. The latest data shows that 86.67% of Lake Cumberland's ICU beds are filled, and 12.31% of ventilator capacity is being utilized. Total (Cumulative) Cases: The Lake Cumberland District has experienced a total of 23,856 cases since the onset of the outbreak. This means that 11.42% of our total population has been a confirmed case. However, we do not know how many additional people may have had COVID-19 and were either asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic and never tested. Of our total cases, 0.65% are reinfections, and 2.65% contracted the virus after being fully vaccinated (breakthrough cases). In the last week, 12.71% of our new cases were breakthrough cases. Released (Not contagious) Cases: We released 151 cases since our last report from isolation. Released cases include: Adair: 24; Casey: 10; Clinton: 6; Cumberland: 1; Green: 12; McCreary: 3; Pulaski: 54; Russell: 7; Taylor: 29; and, Wayne: 5. In all, we have released 96.1% of our total cases. Active (Current) Cases: Taking into account deaths and releases, our active cases decreased by 45 more than the new cases we added since our last report. This leaves us with 469 active cases in our district across all 10 of our district's 10 counties. On 12/10/2020 we were at our peak number of active cases, 1,335. Where Did Cases Visit Prior to Isolation: The most common places cases visited prior to isolation are (in descending order): Businesses, Travel Related, Schools, and Medical Facilities. Of our active cases, 18% can not be tied back to another known case (community-spread cases). This story was posted on 2021-08-03 08:00:43
