Dennis Marr Scott, 98, Gabe, KY (1923-2021)

Mrs. Dennis Marr Scott of the Gabe Community of Green County passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at the Green Hill Rehab & Care Center. She was 98 years old.

The funeral services for Mrs. Dennis Marr Scott will be conducted at 1pmCT on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at the Oak Forest Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Bro. Greg Whitlow and Dr. Robert Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in the Bennett Cemetery.

Visitation is requested after 9amCT on Saturday at the Oak Forest Cumberland Presbyterian Church until time of the funeral service.


Mrs. Dennis Marr Scott of the Gabe Community of Green County, daughter of the late Jake Edward Marr (passed away on July 28, 1948) and Ida Elizabeth Milby Marr, was born on Tuesday, January 9, 1923 in Green County.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ, was a member of the Oak Forest Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She was a homemaker and co-owner and operator of the G.S. Scott Grocery Store from fall of 1959 until fall of 1977. She was also a member of the Summersville Homemakers for 60 plus years.

She united in marriage to Grady Sullivan Scott on December 28, 1940 who preceded her in death on December 21, 1981.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Wanda and Eddie Shuffett of Florida, and Mary and Ellis Creason of Greensburg; four grandchildren: Joe Creason and his wife, Karen, Carol Scott all of Greensburg, Michelle Arnold and her husband, Robbie, and Denise Markham all of Florida; nine great-grandchildren: Samuel, Sarah, Hannah, Jonathan, Jessica, Isaac, Andrew, Kaylea, and Alie; six great-great-grandsons: Lakin, Oakley, Adler, Finley, Dante and Bryson; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Scott was also preceded in death by a sister: Axie Marr; two half-sisters and three half-brothers: Lillie Marr Milby, Ollie Marr Brewer, Alvin Marr, Rollin Marr, and Garnett Milby.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Bible Fund, Green Hill Activity Fund, or the Bennett Cemetery Fund, which can be made at the church or at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home.
