Ramirez named to CoSIDA All-America Softball Team

By Christopher Coombs

Annabelle Ramirez has been named to the Academic All-America Softball Team, selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America), the organization announced on Monday.

Ramirez is among 11 softball student-athletes in the NAIA selected to the first team and one of two pitchers. She was selected from members of the NAIA's four all-district teams, which were announced in early July.

Ramirez was named a NAIA First-Team All-American and the Mid-South Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2021 after posting a 26-6 record. She amassed a 1.11 earned run average while striking out 306 in 177-1/3 innings. Ramirez earned Academic All Mid-South Conference honors with a 3.47 cumulative GPA. She graduated with a degree in Mathematics.

The CoSIDA honor Ramirez's first of her career.

Student-athletes are nominated by their school's sports information directors and voted on by CoSIDA members in their district. The nominees must maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average, be a sophomore or higher in academic standing and be a starter or important reserve on their respective teams.

Whelan becomes the sixth Blue Raider to earn the honor, joining Emily Priar (2012), Travatia Bowden (2014), Cassie Kooker (2016, 2017, 2018), Callum Pilgrim (2019) and Abby Whelan (2020).
