LWC Women's Soccer 2020 Rewind

By Kyle Jackson
The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team made its 22nd appearance in the NAIA Women's Soccer Championship in their 2020 season. The Blue Raiders finished the year at 10-4 overall as they advanced to the final of the NAIA Spring Arbor opening round bracket.

The Blue Raiders started the season by defeating Life (GA) in double overtime before losing their home opener to Cumberlands (KY) 3-1. After the first defeat of the season, the Blue Raiders went on to win their next seven matches in the regular season before that streak was snapped by Martin Methodist (TN).

In the postseason, Lindsey Wilson defeated Campbellsville (KY) 5-1 at home in the Mid-South Conference Tournament quarterfinals. The Blue Raiders were dealt another loss by the Cumberlands in the semifinal, losing 4-1.

In the NAIA National Tournament, the Blue Raiders defeated No. 18 Briar Cliff 2-0 in the semifinal of the opening round bracket in Spring Arbor, Michigan. Lindsey Wilson was knocked out of the tournament after losing 3-0 to host Spring Arbor (MI) in the final of their opening round bracket.

Yudaya Nakayenze led the team in scoring on the season with seven goals in 14 games. Alicia Thoresen led the team in assists with three in 14 games. Eveljn Frigotto led the teams in saves with 82 in 14 games.
