Holiday celebrations begin Friday evening

Independence Day celebrations are going on in our region starting Friday night, July 2, 2021 and continuing through Sunday evening, July 4, 2021. We have the following event listings and ask readers to share more where known:

Friday night fireworks and more at Bowling Park, Glasgow Road, 1608 W Stockton St, Edmonton. Live music will be performed by the Hornet Nest Pickers, concessions will be available, there will be sack races, games and an apple pie eating contest. Things get started at 6pmCT.

Saturday morning on Main Street in downtown Campbellsville. Larry Smith will be announcing floats in what he says will be the biggest Fourth of July parade in the state. It starts at 10amET and is expected to go on for quite some time with a huge number of parade entries.

Sunday evening, Fairgrounds Street in Columbia. The annual fireworks celebration will begin at "dark 30", as soon as it gets dark enough for fireworks to show in the sky above the fairgrounds.
