Letter: 18 Wheelers Coming Through Town Joe Hare writes: Has anyone else wondered why so many semi's come through town instead of using the bypass? Well here could be part of the answer. If you are westbound on the Cumberland Parkway and take the 49 Exit, the directions you see send you into town and around the Square. But if you are eastbound and get off at the same exit you are directed to go to the bypass and go around town. Click for more letters - Traffic through downtown Columbia has been under discussion since the March, 2021 damage was done to the side of the historic Adair County Courthouse. Continued communications like Joe's, with challenges and suggestions that come straight from truck owners experiencing results of our signage, will help Columbia get it right. The City has made a call to the State Highway Department requesting bypass truck route signs for all but those delivering to downtown. - LW This story was posted on 2021-06-10 08:52:35
