By Brady Budke

The Lindsey Wilson softball team has received a No. 1 seed in the Columbia Bracket of the NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round, officials announced on Tuesday.

The top seeded Blue Raiders will host No. 2 seed Saint Xavier (IL), No. 3 seed Madonna (MI), and No. 4 seed Brenau (GA).

The double-elimination Opening Round tournament is set to be played May 17-19 at Marilyn D. Sparks Park, Lindsey Wilson Sports Complex, 928 Russell Road, Columbia, KY.

Excluding last year (tournament canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic), this marks the eighth season in a row Lindsey Wilson will serve as a host for the Opening Round.

Forty total teams will participate in the Opening Round bracket with the winner advancing on to the 40th Annual NAIA Softball World Series. These programs that advance on will take part in a double-elimination National Championship. The World Series will take place May 27-June 2 in Columbus, Georgia.

A full preview on the Opening Round bracket will be available later at www.lindseyathletics.com.
