LWC Women's OTF in 1st place on day 1 of MSC Championships

Williamsburg, KY - The Lindsey Wilson women's outdoor track & field team sits in first place after day one at the Mid-South Conference Championships. The Blue Raiders rounded up 59 team points to lead the conference tournament after the first day of competition.

The Blue Raiders top-scoring event came in the Javelin Throw, where Emilija Kusic won the event, throwing for 37.87 meters, scored a team-high 10 team points, earned all-conference first-team honors, and set a new program record, breaking the previous program record of 36.24 meters.


In other final events around the track today, Annabelle Walker finished fourth in the 10,000-meter run for the Blue Raiders placing a time of 40:53.74 seconds for five points while Laura Cuin-Casimiro finished in sixth for three team points with a time of 43:47.89.

In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Meredith Johnson finished third with a time of 11:38.86, earning all-conference third-team honors, bringing home six points for the Blue Raiders, and breaking the previous program record of 11:43.17. Behind Johnson was Alyssa Sharp who finished fourth with a time of 12:14.73 and five points while Kayla Roeder finished fifth with a time of 12:20.65 for four points.

In the 4x800 relay, the Lindsey Wilson team finished fifth with a time of 10:02.90 and secured four points while Kimberly Ramirez finished fourth in the pole vault, launching for 2.75 meters, tying the program record, and winning four points for the Blue Raiders.

In the Long Jump, Kusic finished second, jumping for 5.51 meters earning all-conference second-team honors and scoring eight team points. Right behind Kusic in third was Ty'Nasia Walker who jumped for 5.32 meters, earning all-conference third-team honors and six points. Luna Senica placed seventh in the event with a 4.95-meter jump and two team points.

Henriette Hawlas won the Heptathlon on the first day, scoring 2406 points finishing second in the 100-meter hurdles, first in the high jump, second in the shot-put competition, and third in the 200-meter dash. Teammates Jahlia McNealy finished fourth while Alina Hoberg finished sixth and Kimberly Ramirez finished eighth.

In the preliminary events today, eight Blue Raiders qualified for the final competition in five different events.

Kusic finished third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.38 while Henriette Hawlas squeezed into the next round with a seventh-place finish and a time of 16.53.

Laila Hardin took third place in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:00.04 while Bailie Colcord finished fifth with a time of 1:00.72.

Kerryann Scott secured fourth in the 100-meter race with a time of 12.45 while Walker stayed alive with a seventh-place finish and a time of 12.51.

Hardin produced a first-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.96 with Tatiana Williams finishing fourth with a time of 1:11.76 and Kirsten Crepps finishing sixth with a time of 1:12.06.

In the final preliminary event, Scott took fifth in the 200-meter run with a time of 25.94 and Kusic finished seventh with a time of 26.08.

Day two of the Mid-South Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships continue Monday at 8amCT from James H. Taylor II Stadium in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
