LWC Women's Tennis aims for 16th-straight MSC tourney title By Kyrin Mayfield Postseason play begins on Friday for the Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team with a Mid-South Conference Tournament quarterfinal match at 12:30pmCT in Owensboro, Ky. The No. 2-seeded Blue Raiders (12-2, 9-1 MSC) will face the winner of Thursday's opening round match between No. 7-seed Thomas More (KY) and No. 10-seed Bethel (TN). Lindsey Wilson was victorious against both programs during the regular season. On March 19, the Blue Raiders swiped all seven points against Bethel (2-11, 2-8 MSC). Nearly one month later, Lindsey Wilson defeated Thomas More (4-10, 4-6 MSC) 6-1 on April 12 in the final match of the regular season. Should the Blue Raiders advance to the semifinals, they would go head-to-head with the victor of match 7, which involves No. 3-seed Campbellsville University and the winner of the opening-round match between No. 6-seed Shawnee State (OH) and No. 11-seed Freed-Hardeman (TN). That semifinals contest is scheduled for a 12:30pmCT start on Saturday at Centre Court. The championship match will be held on Sunday, also at 12:30pmCT at Centre Court. A reservation to the NAIA National Tournament is on the line as the MSC Tournament champion receives the conference's automatic bid. Lindsey Wilson has won every tournament dating back to 2005. The Blue Raiders are riding a four-match win streak into the competition. This story was posted on 2021-04-16 07:47:42
