LWC Baseball travels to IU Southeast this afternoon

By Brady Budke

For the third time this season, the Lindsey Wilson baseball team will battle (RV) IU Southeast (IN) on the diamond in a non-conference showdown. The matchup will feature a single game this afternoon that is scheduled to begin at 4pmCT at the Koetter Sports Complex in New Albany, Indiana.

Live video and live stats will be available for this game. Please view the IU Southeast Spring Sport Spectator Policy for more information about attendance.

The Grenadiers have taken both contests so far this season over the Blue Raiders. IUS won 15-9 back on March 3 at Egnew Park while also corralling a high-scoring 33-15 win over LWC at the Koetter Sports Complex back on March 10.

IU Southeast (28-13) fell on the road to Mid-South Conference opponent Georgetown (Ky.) yesterday, but has won a staggering 19 of its last 21 games. The Grenadiers are averaging 7.4 runs per game while allowing a 5.4 runs per game average to opponents in return. A player to watch for IUS is Matt Monahan, who has had at least one hit in 15 of his last 16 games played. Yesterday, Monahan notched three hits with two being doubles.

As for Lindsey Wilson (17-18), the Blue Raiders continue to produce strong numbers on offense, sitting second in the MSC in team batting average (.298), hits per game (9.8), and runs scored per game (7.5). Derek Zavala has also stolen the most bases in the conference at 19. However, defensively, the Blue Raiders sit at the bottom of the conference in hits allowed per game (10) while ranking second-worst in runs allowed per game (7.6).
