LWC Baseball prepares for home conference series Sun/Mon By Brady Budke Looking to ride a two-game winning streak, the Lindsey Wilson baseball team is set to return home to Egnew Park on Sunday and Monday to battle No. 25 Freed-Hardeman (TN) in a Mid-South Conference series. Sunday will feature a doubleheader beginning at 2pmCT while Monday will be a single game starting at NoonCT. Live video and live stats will be available for this series. Please view the LWC Attendance Protocols for more information about attending these games at Egnew Park. The Lions have claimed four straight games over the Blue Raiders dating back to 2018. Freed-Hardeman (17-16, 10-3 MSC) enters Egnew Park after dropping a 21-2 blowout loss to No. 1 Tennessee Wesleyan back on Wednesday. The Lions are averaging 6.1 runs per game on offense while allowing a 5.7 runs per game average to opponents in return. A player to watch for FHU is pitcher Jacob Sawyers, who has produced some of the best pitching numbers in the conference. Sawyers has thrown 51-1/3 innings of work this season while recording a conference-high 75 total strikeouts alongside the most batters struck out per game at 13.1. As for Lindsey Wilson (15-17, 9-9 MSC), the Blue Raiders continue to produce some strong offensive numbers on the year. LWC holds the second-best MSC mark in hits per game (9.7) and runs scored per game (7.5) along with Derek Zavala having corralled a conference-best 18 stolen bases. However, defensively, Lindsey Wilson holds a conference-worst mark of 10 hits allowed per game alongside a third-worst mark of 7.5 runs allowed per game. This story was posted on 2021-04-11 09:57:22
