LWC Men's Soccer exits MSC Tournament after loss to Cumberlands By Kyle Jackson Campbellsville, KY - The No. 2-seed Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team lost 3-0 to the No. 3-seed Cumberlands (KY) in the semifinal match of the 2020-21 Men's Soccer Mid-South Conference Tournament Saturday afternoon. David Ibrahimkadic led the Blue Raiders on the evening with three shots as Cyrus Harmon had the only shot on goal for the Blue Raiders. David Coffey led the game in saves, making 3 in the match. As a team, the Blue Raiders were outshot by the Patriots 15-7 with a 6-1 shot on goal mark in favor of the opponents. The first half of action was a slow one with both teams trading possession and trying to break down the opposing defense. David Coffey came up big for the Blue Raiders on a couple of occasions, stopping some good chances from the Patriots as the half progressed. The Patriots eventually beat the senior goalkeeper right before the half with an unstoppable shot into the top corner from Nemanja Jovanovic for the 1-0 halftime score. The Patriots scored two quick goals to begin the second half as Riveros and Castell both got on the scoresheet. Riveros finished a low cross into an empty net for his third goal of the tournament and Castell put away his second penalty of the season minutes later to make it 3-0. The Blue Raiders tried to beat a stubborn Patriots defense for the remainder of the contest but failed to do so, losing the match 3-0. Lindsey Wilson now awaits the release of the national qualifiers for the 37th Annual NAIA National Championships which will be released on April 19th. This story was posted on 2021-04-10 19:02:38
