LWC Women's Track and Field grabs First at Centre Twilight

Danville, KY - The Lindsey Wilson women's track and field team corralled a first place finish at the Centre Twilight on Friday at Farris Stadium on the campus of Centre College. This marks the second straight meet that the Blue Raiders have brought home a team victory.

LWC notched 152 total points to win the 12-team event. Centre was close behind in second with 125 points.

Lindsey Wilson produced five first-place finishes, three of which included Ty'Nasia Walker who shined today in Danville. Walker claimed the top spot in the triple jump and 100 meter dash while assisting the 4x100 meter relay to victory.


In the triple jump, Walker leaped her way to a winning mark of 11.33 meters. Close behind in second place, Tatiana Williams jumped forward 11.04 meters to earn the Blue Raiders eight team points. In the 100 meter dash, Walker rushed her way to a top finishing time of 12.49. Kerryann Scott grabbed second in the race with a dash of 12.57. Finally, Walker teamed up with Scott, Emilija Kusic, and Anna Luna Senica for a top time in the 4x100 meter relay of 48.12, which earned a "B" Standard.

Walker also grabbed a third place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.32 meters. A spot above her, Emilija Kusic garnered second place with her jump of 5.50 meters. Senica was fifth in the event with a final mark of 5.12 meters.

The other first-place finishes for the Blue Raiders came from Kusic and Maya Caon. Kusic won the 100 meter hurdles with her time of 16.11 while Caon was crowned the champion in the shot put with her winning toss of 12.24 meters.

Caon continued to have a solid day in the field, lobbing a 4th place mark in the javelin throw (28.46 meters) and an eighth place finish in the discus throw (32.08). Henriette Hawlas was right behind Caon in the javelin throw in fifth place (26.65 meters), while Tiara Jackson was a few spots ahead of Caon in the discus throw at sixth (32.90 meters).

Brianna Laws competed in the hammer throw, ending in fourth place with her best toss of 38.01 meters.

A trio of Lindsey Wilson student-athletes earned team points in the 400 meter hurdles. Laila Hardin notched a second place finish and eight team points with her time of 1:07.09. Fifth place in the event belonged to Williams, who crossed in 1:14.43 for four team points. Kirsten Crepps was right behind in sixth place at 1:14.48, earning three team points.

In the high jump, Hawlas jumped to a third place finish at a finishing height of 1.60 meters. Williams was eighth in the event at a final height of 1.45 meters.

Lindsey Wilson continued the dominating performance with a pair of top-three finishes in the 800 meter run and the 1,500 meter run. The 800 meter run saw Bailie Colcord grab third place with her time of 2:28.94. Dezare Jackson followed behind in sixth to earn the team three points. In the 1,500 meter run, Kaylee Masden paced herself to the third place spot with a time of 5:16.98. Kayla Roeder accompanied Masden in the event with a sixth place finish of her own.

In the 200 meter dash, Hardin raced forward for fourth place in a time of 26.83 and five team points. Alyssa Sharp added a sixth place finish and three team points in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (12:56.14), while Annabelle Walker added two team points and a seventh place mark in the 5,000 meter run (19:50.35).

The Lindsey Wilson women's track and field team is set to return to action on April 25 at the Mid-South Conference Meet in Williamsburg, KY.
