LWC Baseball travels to Brescia today for meeting with Bearcats

The season rolls on for the Lindsey Wilson baseball team this afternoon, as the squad will travel to Owensboro, Kentucky to battle Brescia (KY). First pitch is scheduled for 4pmCT at Kamuf Park. Please view the Brescia University Athletics COVID-19 Policy Manual for more information.

The last time these two programs met was back on April 23, 2019, where the Blue Raiders won 9-8 at Egnew Park.



Brescia (5-14, 5-4 River States Conference) has won four of its last six games. However, the team dropped a game yesterday to Midway (KY) by a final of 16-6 in seven innings.

The Bearcats are averaging just 4.3 runs per game while allowing opponents to average 7.2 in return. John Benevolent enters this afternoon as the top option from the plate for BU, carrying a team-high 20 hits, 16 RBIs, six doubles, and five home runs.

From the bump, Brescia is guided by Thomas Clark, Carlos Rivera, and Tyler Milby. Clark has pitched in the most innings this season for the Bearcats (28.0) while Rivera has a team-best 22 strikeouts followed by Milby at 21 K's.

As for Lindsey Wilson (9-13, 6-6 Mid-South Conference), the team recently dropped two of three games in the Battle of Highway 55 against Campbellsville (KY).

The Blue Raiders have been powerful on offense this season, producing 6.6 runs per game (third most in the MSC) and 9.2 hits per game (second most in the MSC). Derek Zavala leads the charge in hits (28), runs scored (20), and stolen bases (13). Henry Paulino adds his team-high 17 RBIs and seven home runs to the mix.

On defense, Lindsey Wilson is allowing 7.8 runs per game to opponents (ranks 10th out of 11 teams in the MSC). Brady Cappe has thrown a team-best 39 1/3 innings accompanied by 40 strikeouts.
