Presidents Message

As we finish 2004 and plan for a new year ahead, may we say thank you to so many who have made this year a success.

The hard work of so many members is what makes things happen for the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce.

Our Chamber Christmas Party was a great time to enjoy the food, music, and fun of the holiday season.

During our party we said goodbye to outgoing chamber directors: Richard Lee Walker, Lewis Garrison, and Joe Payne.

New directors installed were: Dave Johnston, Stephen Keen, and Darrell Treece. I look forward to working with these new directors and all other directors and members in the coming year.

Thanks so much for the work done by the Board Members, Committee members, and Sponsors in making Christmas in Columbia, and the Christmas Party successful events.

I hope you and your family had a Merry Christmas, a Happy Holiday Season, and that 2005 will be a great year for you.

- Richard Phelps
President

A Special Thank You to Local Businesses

Christmas in Columbia was once again an outstanding event. It was a big success and the day's activities came to a close with the parade "under the lights." According to many folks, it was one of the most beautiful parades in recent years.
Without the cooperation of the business community, Christmas in Columbia, would not be a reality.

The Chamber would like to express their appreciation and say a special "Thank You" to the following businesses who were Sponsors for the 14th annual Christmas in Columbia.

A-1 Tire and Service & A-1 Auto Supply, Adair Progress, Bank of Columbia, Burton Stone, Community Medical Services, Inc., Community Trust Bank, Community Voice, First National Bank, Franklin Motors, Gaddie-Shamrock, Garrison Construction, Hi-Temp Graphics, Image Analysis, IMO, Insurance, etc., J. Downey & Son Lumber, Inc., Jimmy Reliford Drilling Co., Lewis Transport, McCammish Manufacturing, McDonalds, People's Exchange Bank, Roger's Trucking, Inc., Stotts Construction, Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, WAIN Radio Station, and WHVE-FM 92.7 The Wave.

The Carriage Rides added much enjoyment and as always was a big hit!

We are grateful to those businesses that provided the finances to make the carriage rides possible.

They were: Barger Insurance, Central Bookkeeping Services, Farmland Publications, Inc., Grimsley's Jewelry, Grissom Funeral Home, Harris & Harris Attorneys, Jeffries Hardware, Reed Brothers Insurance, Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, and Walker Real Estate and Auction Service.
The Chamber appreciates all committee members and individuals who gave of their time, talents, and resources in helping to make this event a fun-filled day of our Community.

A special "thank you" to Charles Grimsley who served as the over-all Chairman and spent many long hours working on this project and to June Parson who served as Chairperson of the carriage rides.

Expressions of Gratitude for Chamber Open House

Another activity held during the month was the annual Chamber Open House and Christmas Party.

This is a time when Chamber members get together for the installation of new officers and board members, recognize Board members whose term of office will expire at the end of the year, enjoy good food and entertainment along with getting acquainted and having fellowship with other chamber members.

If you were not in attendance, you missed a wonderful event.
