Phillip Coffey - Sound of the Trumpet

SOUND OF THE TRUMPET, By Phillip Coffey

Keep that head up - all is quite merry.
No pensive moments - attention to environment
Of those who may be melancholic - dreary.
Saddle up the steed - lively merriment.

Skipping along - loose fitting jumpers.
Sashay through the plight of encumbered.
Along the path of 'Bambi' and 'Thumper'
Shying away from the sound of the trumpet.

Note: Often when I have poetry 'running through my head' I lower my head while trying to connect all the lines. Another observed me on one such occasion and I was told to not look down. I got up and walked away while trying to finish 'connecting'. On another occasion I was among family sating in a chair. I turned my head back while listening to a bird sing. I hear birds, see something oft 'kilter' or hear whatever and I write prose/poetry. I wrote with 'pen in hand' "Sound of The Trumpet" about 15 minutes before attending church. Writing helps bring me peace.
